About Me

I'm an Irish citizen, recently returned to the Island of Ireland. I live and work in Longford town. Previously, I lived and worked in Asia for around 30 years. In 2001, I returned to the UK to study counselling. At the end of 2003, I graduated from the University of Strathclyde (pictured above) in Glasgow, having achieved their prestigious full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling.

Since then, I have completed over 1,500 hours of additional training, covering Couple Counselling, Counselling Children in Secondary Schools, a Diploma in Coaching Practice from the UK College of Life Coaching, a Work-Life Balance Trainer qualification, and a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I have trained as a Mediator, both in the couples setting and the workplace setting.

I love counselling, and I feel it's a real privilege to be able to help couples and individuals with their difficulties. In my lifetime, I've been an expat child, teenager, and adult, in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing. I have worked as a student counsellor, a couple counsellor, a counsellor for individuals, and an EAP counsellor serving the staff of a major NHS hospital. I worked for Validium in their Glasgow HQ, providing telephone counselling to people all over the UK. I volunteered for one year at a counselling centre helping clients affected by "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland. I am an IACP accredited counsellor.

My wife is Chinese, and we were blessed with a little son in late 2014. I love spending family time with them.
