About Me

I live in the Irish Midlands town of Longford with my wife and son, where I provide face-to-face counselling to couples and individuals, and by Skype to international clients, worldwide.

In 2003, I graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, having achieved their prestigious full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Since then, I have completed over 1,500 hours of additional training, covering Couple Counselling, Counselling Children in Secondary Schools, a Diploma in Coaching Practice from the UK College of Life Coaching, a Work-Life Balance Trainer qualification, and a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. The story of how I became a counsellor was featured in "Therapy Today", the journal of the British Association of Counsellors.

I love counselling, and I feel it's a real privilege to be able to help couples and individuals with their difficulties.
I have worked as a student counsellor, a couples counsellor, a counsellor for individuals, and an EAP counsellor serving the staff of a major NHS hospital. I worked for Validium in their Glasgow HQ, providing telephone counselling to people all over the UK. I volunteered for one year at a counselling centre helping clients affected by "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland. Based on my multi-cultural experiences as an expatriate, I also provide Skype counselling, to couples and individual clients, globally.

I was born in Lisburn in Northern Ireland, and I lived and worked in the Far East for over 30 years - Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and finally, Beijing. My time in Beijing was spent as the C.E.O. of a large French multinational during the week, and my weekends were spent counselling couples and individuals from all over the world.

My wife comes from Yunnan, in the deep South West of China. We were blessed with a little son in late 2014, and we came home to Ireland so that he can grow up in fresh, clean air, and benefit from Ireland's world class educational institutions. I absolutely love spending family time with them both. Being a father has made me a better counsellor, and being a counsellor has made me a better father!
